Mr. Richard Colby, aged 53 passed away at his home in Au Sable Forks, New York, Monday, November 13, 1933, after a lingering illness. Mr. Colby had been in failing health for the past few years and until very recently was unable to work. For the greater share of his life, Mr. Colby lived in Greene Street and about two years ago he and his family moved to a home in town.
Surviving were his wife, Mrs. Richard Colby, seven children, Scott, Thelma, Sarah and Daniel of Au Sable Forks, and Mrs. Dora Decker of Lake Placid, New York, and Mrs. Flora Muscrowe of Trout Pond in the town of Chesterfield, New York.
Funeral services were held from Mr. Colby's home and burial was in the North Jay cemetery, Rev. D. S. Clute officiated at the services. The pall bearers included Mr. Henry Joy, Mr. Joseph Smith, Mr. James Powers, Mr. Earl William and Mr. Thomas William.
His parents were Jeduthan Colby and Emily Anne (Fountain) Colby.
