John Lester Pickett was the son of John Columbus Pickett and Margaret "Maggie" Holt Pickett.

Lester went out west and in the 1910 census, he is listed as a "prisoner" in a mine. He is in Cochise County, AZ, when he fills out a draft card.
He returns to Georgia sometime after 1924, as his mother's obituary states he is residing in San Francisco, CA, at the time, and dies in 1929 in Clarke County, but according to his death record, he lives in Atlanta. "Athens" is scribbled out on his death record as place of death. He dies of "pulmonary tuberculosis"
