As approximately 300 persons gathered at the Taylor Springs Baptist Church in the New Hope Township Wednesday to attend last rites for Mr. Zeb V. Williams who died here Sunday night. About 175 persons filled the church to capacity and an almost equal number stood outside while the service was in progress which is almost in sight of Mr. Williams' birthplace.
Ministers who participated in the service were the Rev. D. Grady White, the Rev. James S. Potter, the Rev. L.T. Younger and the Rev. C. C. Holland.
The funeral tribute was beautiful and lavish.
Beside the active pallbearers, Messrs. Russell Black, Holland Reid, Arthur Swain, Clarence Blackwelder, Jim Brawley and Lee Harbin all business associates of Mr. Williams, there were some 15 honorary pall bearers: Messrs. C. B. Wineberry, James Meacham, Clyde Johnson, John G. Lewis, Oscar Fox, George Gaither, N. M. Blackwelder, A. W. Bunch, R. C. Bunch, John Connor. Gilmer McCombs, Emery Carico all of this city and Sam Austin of Dobson and Tom Rumple of Jonesville.
Those from out of town included Mrs. Ray Hook of Merrill Wisconsin, sister of Mrs. Williams and a number of people from Charlotte, Winston Salem, High Point, Reidsville, Greensboro and North Wilkesboro.
