LAST RITES HELD FOR EDITH STILLINGER
Funeral services for Edith Stillinger were held Friday, December 5, 1969 at Wolfe Funeral HOme with the Rev. Nadim Saikaly officiating and burial in Villisca Cemetery.
Memorial fund in her memory, has been established at Means Hardware, for the Berean Sunday School Class to be used for new lights in the sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church.
Edith Marguerite Stillinger, daughter of Joseph T. and Sarah E. Stillinger, was born on December 29, 1892 on a farm near Villisca.
She attended country school and graduated from the Villisca High School in 1913.
After her father became disabled, she helped manage the family farm for a number of years, and in 1951 she moved to town.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church since childhood. She was also a member of the DAR (Daughters of American Revolution) and of the Garden Club. In later years she became active in church work and especially in the Sunday School Berean Class.
She passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 6:55 p.m. at the Murphy Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, where she had been a patient for a few days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and one brother.
She is survived by 3 brother and 2 sisters, Edward L. Stillinger, of Albert Lee, Minnesota, Lester Stillinger of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Ralph Stillinger of Metairie, Louisiana, Mrs. Blanch Grahame of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mrs. Ada Roberts of Louisberg, Kansas; 8 nephews and nieces, and 10 grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
