Charles Osborn, Sr. a well-known farmer of near Duff, died Sunday at Winslow where he was visiting his son. He was 76 years of age.

Charles Elijah Osborn was a River Pilot in his early years, & later became a farmer. "Among early flatboat pilots were . . . Charles Osborn, Senior. . .These pilots were autocrats and their word was law while in command. This was to avoid loss, for there were many dangerous places on the river. . . "
