Lead Morning Call newspaper, February 12, 1898 - "A Sudden Death.
Bertie, the four year old and youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Allinson, was choked to death last evening about 9 o'clock. The little fellow was playing about the house, when in some manner he became possessed of a brass headed furniture tack, which, child like, he placed in his mouth and swallowed, the tack going head downward, and lodging between the vocal cords, cut off respiration, causing almost immediate death. Drs. Bailor, Dickinson and Wilson were hastily summoned when the lad's condition was first discovered, but before they arrived the child was beyond human aid. Up to a late hour last night the funeral arrangements had not been completed but in all probability he will be buried Sunday."

Lead Morning Call, February 13, 1898 - "The funeral of Bertie Allinson, the little 4 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Allinson, who came to such an untimely end by swallowing a furniture tack Friday evening, and choking to death, will occur today at three o'clock from the Salvation Arms barracks, the army having the funeral in charge. Adjutant Sheppard will deliver the sermon. Interment will be had in the South Lead cemetery."

Thanks to the sympathizing hearts and willing hands of so many friends and neighbors of Lead (also of one noble and kind lady of Deadwood) who done so much to assist and help us in the time of our trouble, caused by the sudden taking away by death of our youngest son, Robert Ainsworth, better known as Bertie, pet, from this world of trouble to God and heaven.
