Ida Belle Austin was born on February 19, 1917 in Eudora, MS, the middle child of James Brice and Florence Garrett Craven.

In 1935 she married Alvan Austin and moved to Coldwater, MS. They were married for 55 years before his death in 1980.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Coldwater, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, sanctuary organist, and was an active member of the WMU.

Mrs. Austin was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a retired teacher. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, music, and visiting with her family and many friends.

In 2003 she moved to Memphis, and lived at Rose Terrace Assisted Living.

She died on July 11, 2011 at the age of 94.

Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery, Coldwater, MS.

She is survived by her sons, William (Bill) Austin (Linda) and Dr. John Roger Austin (Julie), seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
