George C. Sanders Dies Here Monday

George Chetelat Sanders, a life long resident of Custer County, died at his home here about 6 a.m. Monday, Feb 24.

Sanders was born July 5, 1893 at Bedford, Ontario, Canada and came to Custer county with his parents when an infant. His father, George Sanders, came from England and his mother, Mrs. Sanders, was born Cinderella Lampman in Canada. Sanders had been baptized in St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Jennie Dye of Canon City; a brother, Frank Sanders of Grand Junction; half sisters, Elizabeth Chanmings, Susan Chetelat and Sarah McClintock, all of Denver, Bessie Hubler and Emily Conrad, both of Medford, Oregon. A niece, Edna White of Canon City also survives.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Menzel Funeral home in Westcliffe. Burial was in Silver Cliff cemetery under the direction of Menzels.

Pallbearers, all relatives, were Lester Payne of Pueblo, Bennie Brown of Grand Junction, Clark Witt, Marvin White, Bud Whisler and Oswald White, all of Canon City.
