Professional Football Player. For three seasons (1978 to 1980), he played at the running back position in the National Football League with the Cincinnati Bengals. Born David Turner, he was raised in Bakersfield, California where he was a standout athlete at Shafter High School. He attended Bakersfield Junior College and transferred to San Diego State University where he played collegiate football. Selected by Cincinnati during the 2nd round of the 1978 NFL Draft, he appeared in 44 career games. Turner's most accomplished season was in 1979 while serving as a special teams player. He led the NFL with 55 kickoff returns, while amassing 1,149 yards with 1 touchdown. Sadly after his football career ended, he would had on-and-off encounters with the law. He was shot to death during an altercation with police.
