Carlton A. Munger was for many years a merchant in Rutland, Vt. In February, 1849, he removed to Granville, N. Y., where for twelve years he was treasurer of the Washington County Mutual Fire Insurance Co. In 1861 he moved to Des Moines, Iowa, and resumed mercantile business. In 1866 he followed his sons to Hannibal, where, retired from active business, he died of apoplexy, March 4, 1878.
