Gene Lovelace ( - July 3, 1970) was a NASCAR driver from Newsport News, VA. He competed in one Nextel Cup event in his career prior to dying of a heart attack in 1970. Starting 6th in the seventeen-car field at Langley, Lovelace completed half of the event before falling out with mechanical failure. He still managed to finish 11th.
As told by his wife, He died in Richmond, VA: he was at a race at Southside Raceway and had a massive heart attack. He was pronounced deceased at MCV Hospital.
