Mr. D. H. Althouse was taken dangerously ill Friday night with something similar to appoplexy and died at 10:45 o'clock Sunday night. The funeral services were conducted by Reverend Murphy, at the Bethel Church and remains were intered in the Bethel Cemetery Monday afternoon. He was 67 years and 11 months old at the time of his death. He leaves a wife and several grown up children to mourn their loss.

Mr. Daniel H. Althouse, son of Simeon and Harriett Althouse, was born November 12th 1839 in Wentworth County, Canada. Was married to Cathatine Muir in 1860, who died January 27, 1903 and whose body lies in Bethel Cemetery awaiting the general resurrection. He was again married to Maggie Clepper January 21, 1905. He died October 12, 1907 at 10:42 p.m. aged 67 years 11 months, and was placed by the side of his wife in Bethel Cemetery. Funeral was conducted from Bethel Church by the writer. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters. He was born of the Spirit at 15 years of age and united with the Wesleyan Methodist Church and later transferred to the M.E. Church and remained a member until moving to Waldron, Harper, Kansas to live, and joined the United Brethren Church and remained a faithful member until his Father called him home to enjoy the results of his labors. He labored in the Gospel as a preacher of the Word for about 40 years. Pastor, C.E. Murphy.
