He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnie and Mattie Owen Johnson along with two brothers, Wandle Johnson and Eston Johnson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bessie, and four children: Patty Harris of Little Rock, Kenny Johnson (Dana) of Sherwood, Peggy Kelly (Robert) of Ft. Smith, and Tim Johnson of Little Rock. They have eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Billie is also survived by one sister, Eloise Pickens of North Little Rock and a brother, Owen D. Johnson (Peggy) of Lorton, VA, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Billie was a faithful member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Rose City. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Crescent Masonic Lodge #403. He retired from Chicopee Manufacturing after 41 years of employment as an industrial mechanic. Billie took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed sports and gardening.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel (501-791-7400) with Brother Rick Etheridge and Brother Robert Kelly officiating.
Interment will follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Kyle Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Caleb Harris, Matt Taylor, Michael Stout, Joe Deeter, and Tracy Krack. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the funeral home.
