Gaynell Thompson Cannon, Branchville, entered the Gates of Heaven on Monday, July 11, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Jerry Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangburg is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Bradley, Rocky Varn, Jason Varn, Matthew Witalis, Walter Ray and Lloyd Thompson.

Gaynell was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Branchville, the daughter of the late Mamie Crook Thompson and the late Richard J. Thompson. She was predeceased by her husband, Allen Cannon; her granddaughter, Ansley Senn; and her five brothers, Ernest Thompson, Robert Thompson, Gerald Thompson, Lloyd Thompson and Bert Thompson.

Survivors include her four daughters, Sandra (Bob) Burgess, Louise (Richard) Bradley, Bobbie (Bob) Varn and Debbie (Pete) Witalis; seven grandchildren, Sandy Senn, Ricky Bradley, Lana Ray, Rocky Varn, Jason Varn, Betsy Varn and Matthew Witalis; her sister, Emma Mae Murray; her brother, Heyward Thompson; 15 great-grandchildren; and, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the home of Bobbie and Bob Varn, 1531 Tolly Ganley Circle, Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to Midlands Deaf Church, 357 Wattling Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
