Maude moved to St. Paul, Minn. with her family from Virginia after her father died. She married Thomas Brues Neuhausen on 12/6/1899 in St. Paul. He was first a newspaper man and later went into the business of successfully managing the campaigns of several Republicans & Progressives in Oregon. Subsequently she and her husband ran a real estate business in Portland, OR. She was one of the first women ever licensed in that field. During her career she was President of the Women's Realty Board, Soroptomist Club, and the Portland Woman's Club. Her other club affiliations included the Daughters of the Nile, & the Irvington Club. She had no biological children, but helped to house & care for her nephews Carl N. & Richard M. Jones.
