Mahomet, Ill., Aug 15- M.F. Coffman, a civil war veteran and a resident of Champaign county for over 50 years, died at his home here at 10 o'clock this morning. Born in Fairfield county, O., June 22, he came to Illinois in 1882 ( must be 1852) and to Champaign county in 1861. He served during the civil war with Companies I and C, Second Illinois Cavalry, and three years after receiving his discharge married Elizabeth J. Kane. They had two children but both died in infancy. Survivors are the widow and the following brothers and sisters, W. H. and D. W. Coffman of Champaign; S. C. of Nance county, Nebraska: T. D. of Livermore, Calif., and Misses Mary and Lou.

The funeral will be held from the Mahomet M.E. church at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, Rev. T.O. Holly officiating. The remains will be taken overland to Champaign, where Col. Nodine Post, G.A.R. will conduct (military) services at the grave in Mount Hope cemetery.
