Edwin m/1 August 1942 Mary Elizabeth Mathews. They were the parents of Stephen Ray, Betty Marie and James Kenneth Anders. Edwin m/2 Lura Nell Claybourn Raplee on 27 Apr 1973 at Ellington A.F.B., Texas.

Funeral services for retired Lt. Col. Edwin Ray Anders, 71, (USAF Retired) were held March 30, 1991 at the First United Methodist Church in Palacios with the Rev. Bernard Ritchea officiating. Burial was in Palacios Cemetery.
Mr. Anders, a native and longtime resident of Palacios, was born April 4, 1919 to the late William Bob and Lula Smith Anders. He died March 28, 1991 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He served with the U. S. Air Force during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal among many other honors before retiring from the service in 1968. A member of the American Legion of Blessing, Mr. Anders was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Palacios.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lura Nell Claybourn Anders; a daughter, SMSGT Rebecca Raplee of Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany; five sons, Randall C. Raplee of Corpus Christi, James Kenneth Anders of Temple, Robert C. Raplee, Rick C. Raplee and Ryan G. Raplee, all of Nashville, Tenn.; and a brother, Alfred L. Anders of Lake Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Bob and Lula Smith Anders; a son, Stephen Ray Anders; a daughter, Betty Marie Anders; and a brother, Milton B. Anders.
Pallbearers were Paul Goforth, Clayton Claybourn, Tim Anders, Melvin Anders, Clay Dyson and Dennis Hunt.
