MISS MARY A. IVES, AGE 75, DIES
Entire Life Spent on Farm Near Field Settlement

Miss Mary A. Ives, aged 75 years, died at her home near Field Settlement in the town of Watertown Sunday evening. She had been for several months.
Miss. Ives was born in the house, in which she died, in January, 1847, the daughter of Joel and Sarah Dodge Ives. Her entire life was spent on her farm and for many years she had personally attended to the managing of it. She was a member of Star Grange, Sulphur Springs.
Surviving Miss Ives are three nephews, Charles J. Hall, Washington, D. C. Herbert D. Hall, Sulphur Springs and Oren B. Hall, Sackets Harbor, and two nieces, Mrs. Carrie Palmer, Watertown, and Mrs. Flora E. Dodge, Clayton.
The funeral of Miss Iran will be held from the late home on the Massey Street Road Tuesday afternoon at 2.
Rev. A. R. Lambert. D. D., pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of this city, will officiate. Interment
will be at Brook Brookside Cemetery.
Miss Ives belongs to the old Ives family, which was one of the first to settle in the town of Watertown. Her father Joel was a brother of Jerome Ives, the father of Dr. George Ives, who lives on the Massey street road.
Joel Ives was also a cousin of Garrett Ives, who father of Lewis G. Ives, for many years treasurer of the Jefferson County Agricultural Society.
Erastus Ives, the father of Joel and Jerome, came to Jefferson County from Connecticut. He was one of the very early settlers.
The farm on which Miss Ives was born, lived and died had been in the family for many years, having been purchased by her father early in his life.
