Charity Sauns Wright was born on May 28, 1840, in Washington County, Pennsylvania, on the homestead where she died. She was the last surviving child of Rev. Joseph Wright, a prominent minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and Catherine Hopkins Wright.

Charity came from a long line of pioneer ancestors.  Her great-grandfather, Joshua Wright, came to Peters Creek Valley around 1767.  On her mother's side, she was the granddaughter of Col. Thomas Hopkins, a soldier of the Revolutionary period.

Mrs. Anderson was a devout member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, who contributed liberally to the new Wright Church near her residence.  She attended every church service her health permitted, was a teacher in the Sunday School, and for many years was head of the Junior Epworth League (founded in 1889, a Methodist young adult association).

Death was due to the "infirmities of age."  Charity had been in poor health for a number of months, but had been confined to her bed for less than 2 weeks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. David Miller Anderson, and is survived by her 2 children:  Alexander Hopkins Anderson and Elizabeth Eleanor "Bessie" Rees.

Funeral service was at Wright's Methodist Episcopal Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia, PA 15367, on Thursday, March 12, at 2 p.m.  Burial followed in the family plot in Finleyville Cemetery.
