Barry Lewis Simmons, 53, of Buchanan, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 9, 2011. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and best friend of 24 years, Linda; and his beloved daughter, Kaitlin Gail. Barry was the coach for his daughter's softball teams for several years and he enjoyed teaching the girls and watching them play the game. It was all about the girls having fun and each girl was special to him in their own way. Barry had a wonderful sense of humor, was an avid Redskins fan, and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, cooking out, his garden, and just spending time with his family and friends. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Louise Simmons; brothers, Darrel and his wife, Vickie, Ted, and Ray; sisters, Christel Kelly and Lita Regan and her husband, Bill; mom-inlaw, Edna Ferrell and her husband, T.A.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior. In Barry's honor, the family requests those attending the visitation and service to come dressed in casual attire.
