U.S. Congressman. Born near Odessa, Missouri, he graduated from Princeton University in 1928, worked in the office of Judge Henry L. Jost, Kansas City, attended the Kansas City School of Law, was admitted to the bar in 1932 and commenced to practice law in Kansas City, Missouri. He was assistant prosecutor of Jackson County, (1932-36) and a member of the board of directors of the school district of Kansas City, (1940-42). In 1943, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-eighth and to the Seventy-ninth Congresses, serving until 1947. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law and served as magistrate judge of Lafayette County in 1972. He died at age 68 on his farm near Odessa, Missouri.
