U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Kent Hill Seminary Maine, in 1886, moved to Massachusetts, in 1893 and engaged as a general contractor in the construction of industrial plants. He was a member of the Fitchburg City Council, (1906-12)), water commissioner (1913-15), Mayor of Fitchburg, (1917-20) and a member of the Republican State committee. In 1925, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-ninth Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1935. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed management in the contracting business, until his death at age 81.
