NEW ALBANY -- Thelma C. (Richeson) Abbott Wenning, 83, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany. She was a member of Culbertson Baptist Church and Mothers and Others Sunday school class. She was a past matron of Milltown Order of the Eastern Star #412 and past matron of New Albany OES #340. She was a past guardian of Job's Daughters Bethels #12 and #42, a member of Business and Professional Women's Association and past president of The Dietary Managers Association. Most recently, she had been president of The Residents' Council of Green Valley Care Center. She had also done alterations in her home on McDonald Lane. She retired from Green Valley Care Center as dietary supervisor.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tillus Abbott, her daughter, Maxine Gish, and her brother, Lou Richeson.

Survivors include her husband, J.P. Wenning; three daughters, Patricia Pfeifer (Bob) of Indianapolis, IN, Susie Goens of Indianapolis and Betty Thomas (Garry) of New Albany; a stepdaughter, Linda Thomas (Butch Berkenmeyer) of Ramsey, IN; two stepsons, James Wenning (Betty) of Depauw, IN, and John Wenning (Anita) of Ramsey; three brothers, Charles Richeson (Maxine) of Martinsville, IN, Harold Richeson (Marge) of Indianapolis and Ralph Richeson of Franklin, IN; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grand-children.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook, Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes. Burial will take place on Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may go to Culbertson Baptist Church or Green Valley Care Center.
