On September 7, 1978, he passed away at his home in Geneva at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 7 days.
In 1920, he and his folks moved to a farm northwest of Burress, where John attended school and graduated from the Burress school.
As a young boy, his interests were in baseball and music.
On September 22, 1936, he married Mildred Zelenka and they farmed for two years northwest of Burress and then moved to a farm south of Grafton, where they lived and farmed for 38 years.
This last March John and Mildred retired from the farm and moved to their present home in Geneva.
John was a kind and loving husband and will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucille, and brother, Charles.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; brother, Richard and sister-in-law, Vlasta of Loveland, Col., and nephew, Bob; nieces, Kathryn and Nancy and their families, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 9, 1978, at 10 a.m. from the Farmer and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Funk officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Miss Susan Najmon, who snag, "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Pallbearers were Frank Bures, Erwin Bures, George C. Bures, Joseph F. Bures, Lee Bures and Fred Votipka. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Milligan.
