Joreen was employed at Cedar Valley College for 8 years as a secretary, then employed with Mainstream Inc., Project LINK, for 12 years retiring from the position as Regional Manager.
She was awarded the Bill May Award in 1993 by the Dallas Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities. She was also voted the Texas Employee of the year in 1983. She worked with federal government, state and city organizations to improve the lives of individuals with emotional, mental, and physical disabilities through employment, rehab and counseling. She was a volunteer with the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary and with the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas.
Joreen was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church USA where she served as an elder in Lancaster, TX. She moved from Lancaster to Tyler, Texas in 1997, then she moved on to Temple, Texas in 2010 to be closer to family. She remained active in her community and in Grace Presbyterian Church.
Joreen was married to Kenneth Wayne Leamon (now deceased) for 28 years and together they had 4 children, and to Charles Wayne Grady (now deceased) for 5 years - together they had 1 daughter. Joreen married Howard Earl Moore in 1994. They were blessed with 15 years together ending with his death in 2008.
Joreen is survived by her 5 children: Donna Jo Lovett of Killeen, TX, Daniel Wayne Leamon of Waxahachie, TX, Darla Renee Adams of Dallas, TX, Dana Kaye Riley of Jefferson, GA, Deanna Jean Luchak of Lowell, AR; 4 step-children; and 1 sister: Cynthia Raye Cooper of Edgewood, TX. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 3220 South 31st Street, Temple, Texas on Tuesday, July 12, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple, TX on Wednesday, July 13, at 11:00 am and will be officiated by Reverend Kathy Vineyard. Joreen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and best friend Howard Moore at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salvation Army in Temple, Texas; or Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas, TX.
