She was born on August 1, 1930 in Watauga County to the late Fred and Betty Broyhill Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clonnie Richard Hendrix; a son, Garry Carson Hendrix and a great grandchild, Trevor Saunders; two brothers, Donald and Carson Cox.
Mrs. Hendrix was a longtime member of Yadkin Baptist Church and the Joy Club. She was a volunteer at Storehouse Daily Bread Ministries of Lenoir, NC.
She leaves behind two daughters, Joyce R. Hendrix of Lenoir, NC, and Marcia Powell and husband, Ken of Florida; five grandchildren, Richard Saunders and wife Shannon of Lenoir, NC, Lee Saunders and wife Robin of Granite Falls, N C, Chenoa Hendrix of Lenoir, NC, Amy Haney and husband, Brandon of Lenoir, NC, and Kenneth Hendrix and wife, Melissa of Granite Falls, NC; seven grandchildren, Charles, Noah, Grace, Ashley, Jordan, Jaziman and Carrington; four sisters, Anna Lee Miller and Della Trivette, both of Triplett, NC, Mary Lou Welburn and husband Charles of Boone, NC, and Barbara Melton and husband, Bob of Lenoir, NC.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hendrix will be held Friday, March 18, 2011 at 11:00 am at Yadkin Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Livingston officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Pendry's Funeral Home from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm.
Pallbearers will be Richard Saunders, Lee Saunders, Chenoa Hendrix, Kenneth Hendrix, Brandon Haney and Chris Conley. Honorary pallbearers will be Adult #3 Ladies Class of Yadkin Baptist Church.
