Fond du Lac Reporter, Fri. Feb. 7, 1997, p. B4, c. 1. Clemens Karls, 74, of St. Peter, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born March 24,1922, at Johnsburg, a son of the late John and Louisa Kohlman Karls. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Grade School in Johnsburg. On May 27, 1944, he married Evangeline Sippel at St. Cloud Catholic Church in St. Cloud. After their marriage, they farmed in the Marytown area for 40 years before retiring and moving to St. Peter. Clem enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter, the Holy Name Society of the Church and was a retired member of the Calumet Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Evangeline; one daughter, Betty Haensgen and her husband Donald of Johnsburg; six grandchildren, Ken Haensgen and his wife Vicki of Johnsburg; Sandy Greuel and her husband Joe of Fond du Lac, Barb Rose and her husband Dan of St. Cloud, Steve Haensgen and his wife Val of Oak Creek, Kris Haensgen and her special friend, Eric Evjen, and Mike Haensgen, at home; nine great-grandchildren: Megan, Beth and Jessi Haensgen, Samantha Greuel, Danielle, Nick and Amanda Rose, Tyler and Zach Haensgen; four sisters, Lou Mueller of Fond du Lac, Florence Mand and her husband Albert of Mount Calvary, Leona Schneider and her husband Eddie of Pipe, Francine Schmitz and her husband Tony of Mount Calvary; two brothers, Robert and his wife Lyla of Johnsburg, and Ben and his wife Esther of Appleton; and one brother-in-law, Alois Forstner of St. Cloud. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola and Clara. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Huss Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and at 10:30 a.m. at St: Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter. The Rev. William Heffron will officiate. Entombment will be at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
