JAMES HORACE CHAPIN
Funeral services were held Monday
afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the
Mayville Baptist Church for James
Horace Chapin, age 78, who passed
away Friday, Aug. 26th, 1949. of a
heart attack, .Rev. Claude McCallum
of Pontiac officiated and interment
was made in Rich Cemetery.
James Horace Chapin was born,
July 7, 1871, at Norwich, Ontario,
son of Hannah and Rollin Chapin.
His boyhood days were spent in
and around Silverwood.
On March 31, 1896 he was united
in marriage to Miss- Emeleta Wall,
who preceded him in death eight
years ago.
In 1899 he moved to Wilmot
where he spent most of his active
life, moving to Mayville in 1939.
Being denied of children of their
own, they reared four children who
are Harold of Deford; Howard of
Caro, Mrs. Greta Kitchen and a
niece Mrs. Delia Long, both of Mayville;. He had
been making his home
with his niece, Mrs., Long, where he
passed away.
Besides his children he leaves to
mourn his loss: nine grandchildren;
two brothers, Dr. C.D. Chapin of
Columbiaville; and Glen Chapin of
Hemlock; a nephew DeLoss Chapin
of Toronto, Ontario, a niece, Mrs.
Ora Bowman of Sarnia, Ontario, as
well as a host of friends.
He was a faithful member of the
Free Methodist Church for many
years..
