He was a member of 101st Airborne Unit during World War II, serving in the European Theater in the fight against Germany.
He married Lois Marie Olson on July 27, 1947. She preceded him in death in 1989.
He moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in the early 1950s, where he worked for the Kaiser Aluminum Corporation for many years until retirement.
He moved to Sequim in 1986.
He was a longtime member of the Elks, Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lutheran Church.
He loved hunting, fishing, watching football and baseball games, and collecting coins.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Rick and Carrie Rodlend and a granddaughter.
