FORMER RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY
J. W. (Bill) Cusack, 49, of Fonda, and a former Chariton resident, died unexpectedly Sunday.
He and Mrs. Cusack were returning from Lake Okoboji when they arrived at the scene of an accident. Both skilled in first aid, they assisted at the scene and rode in the ambulance to a nearby hospital. As the ambulance arrived at the hospital Mr. Cusack suffered a fatal heart attack.
The family left Chariton 11 years ago. He had been associated with the National Bank & Trust Co. in Chariton and became vice president of the First National Bank of Fonda.
Surviving are Mrs. Cusack, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Grogan of Chariton, and two children, both students at the University of Iowa. Michael has been attending summer school and Mary Bernice has been singing at the Show Boat Dinner Club in the Okoboji area.
He is also survived by his mother who resides in Creston.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Fonda and also at 4:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Chariton with the Rev. Father C. J. Gaul conducting the Chariton service. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Chariton.
