Athelstan Harvey was prominent in civic affairs for many years. He was an ex alderman. He served as alderman on Vancouver city council from 1932 to 1936.
He and his mother and two brothers went to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1909.
He was the author of a book "Douglas of the Fir" which brought him International fame. His book was a biography of the famed botanist, David Douglas, after whom the giant Douglas Fir is named.
He was a retired lawyer and a civic leader.
He was married to Elizabeth Mary King who died after him.
He died at age 65 in Vancouver.
The ashes of Athelstan Harvey are buried with his mother Mary Ann Alice Harvey in Grave 1 Lot 198 Poplar.
