During WW II, she met a young Californian, Air Force Sgt named Robert Lewis. Robert was stationed in Sioux Falls for radio training. Robert left to fly in missions over Germany and Lorraine joined the Women's Marines. After the war, they were married and settled into Sioux Falls, where they remained until their deaths. Robert passed away four months ago, and Lorraine passed away on his birthday.
Lorraine was a loving wife and mother. She served as school room mother and Boy Scout leader, and enjoyed gardening, decorating and reading.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Tim Lewis, Edee Smorawske (Gordon), Amy Peterson (El), Todd Lewis and Jack Lewis; three grandsons and three great grandchildren.
The family is planning a private ceremony, and ask that all remembrances go to South Dakota Public Broadcasting (TV).
