Death at a Ripe Old Age
Samuel Hoover, a successful farmer, of Wolfsville, Frederick County, died Wednesday morning at half past three o'clock in in his 87th year. He was a member of the United Brethren Church for about sixty-eight years, having joined the church when he was just nineteen years of age. He lived a consistent Christian to the end. He was a strong Whig and afterward Republican. He was one of three persons of the place who voted for Abraham Lincoln in 1860.He is the father of four children - John W. Hoover, Joshua E. Hoover, and Mary E. Martin, wife of Scott L. (sic) Martin, all of Wolfsville. One daughter (Sarah) died in infancy and his wife preceded him several years ago. Funeral Friday morning at 10 o'clock; service at the house; internment in the U. B. graveyard. His son, Joshua Hoover, is lying at the point of death.
