Francis Michael Hunter, age 75, of Shelton, beloved husband of Therese Mahony Hunter, died on Saturday July 9, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, New York on November 20, 1935, he was the son of the late Walter and Veronica Stewart Hunter. Mr. Hunter was a graduate of Brooklyn Prep High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He was employed with Sikorsky Aircraft for 43 years before his retirement with leadership roles in Engineering, Product Support and Product Safety. Frank was a parishioner at St. Lawrence Church in Shelton, a member and volunteer of the Sikorsky Archives and a member of the White Hills R.C. Club. He also enjoyed woodworking. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Elizabeth. In addition to his wife, survivors include his devoted children, Jeanne Bodyk and her husband Frederick of Shelton, Daniel Hunter and his wife Sharon of Shelton, Christine Hunter of Manhattan, Margaret Levine and her husband Steven of Naugatuck, Major Kevin Hunter and his wife Jennifer of Quantico, VA, nine grandchildren: Emily Bodyk, Mary, John and James Hunter, Hannah Levine, Victoria, Samantha, Sean and Alexander Hunter, and his brothers and sisters, Joan DeOliveira of New Mexico, Donald Hunter of Connecticut, Anne Tubridy of California, Marie Kenniff of New York and Richard Hunter of California. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 9 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut Hospice at Home Program, 765 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, CT. 06604.
