Death Follows Fractured Hip Suffered in Fall on Aug. 19

Earlham--(Special)--Mrs. Leona S. Utterback, a long-time resident of Earlham and vicinity, died at her home here on Monday of last week. Her death was the result of a fall on Aug. 19 in which she suffered a fractured hip. She was 78 years of age.

Mrs. Utterback was the former Leona S. Rodman, and was born at Stronghurst, Ill., on March 7, 1863. When she was 7 years old she moved with her parents to Tabor, in this state, living there until 1883. She was married to Oscar J. Utterback on Nov. 21, 1883.

Mrs. Utterback was the mother of seven children, on son dying in infancy, a daughter, Mrs. Verda Boyd, in 1928, and another daughter Mrs. Florence Bane, on June 20 of this year.

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Charles Busch of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Ervin England of St. Charles, and Mrs. Royal Compton and Mrs. John Golightly of Earlham; one sister, Doris Rodman of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was long a member of the Methodist church at Earlham, where her funeral services were held last Friday. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
