Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dahlia Guerra-Russo; granddaughter, Angela Russo-Afeld; four brothers; and two sisters. Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

A native of Tampa, born in Ybor City, Joe was the leader of the Joe Russo Orchestra famous for the big band sound played in and around the dance clubs in Tampa and Key West. Joe finally retired as a boilermaker in his later years.

He is survived by his children, Joe Russo (Jo-Ann), Dick Russo, Art Russo (Sandy) & Sarah Avalos; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; longtime companion, Marilyn Chavez; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
