Mary Mildred "Mildred" Corbitt was born on January 18, 1927, in Vienna, West Virginia, a daughter of Albert Gallitan and Bessie Pearl Burch Corbitt.

She married Eli Justine Sims on February 1, 1946, in Elizabeth, West Virginia. They had five children Donald Ralph, Paul David, Rex Wade, Ellen Yuvonne, and Elizabeth Ann.

Mildred had eight brothers, Charles Bradford Corbitt, Harry Edward Corbitt, Herman Cecil Corbitt, Homer Wilson Corbitt, Harold Marshall Corbitt, George Albert Corbitt, Argil Aaron Corbitt, and Billie Lewis Corbitt; and one sister Virginia E Corbitt Blair.

She died on March 25, 1996, in Palestine, West Virginia, at the age of 69, and was buried in Palestine Cemetery, Thorne Addition behind the Bethesda Baptist Church, Palestine, West Virginia.
