CHESAPEAKE - Edward Lee Eure, 84, of the 2700 block of Fenway Ave., passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010. He was a native of Gates County, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Henry and Ruby Byrd Eure. He was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War and Vietnam. He also served in the Third Army, 94th Division, Company D under General Patton in World War II, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Bronze Star. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy D. Eure; one daughter, Mary L. Biernot of Chesapeake; a son, Edward L. Eure Jr. and his wife Denise of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Eugenia Taylor and her husband Alfred of Kentucky, Ellen Brown and her companion Al of Chesapeake; one brother, Franklin "Rock" Eure and his companion Ida of Portsmouth; three grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, in the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Mr. Keith Lewis. Burial will Air Force honors will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m.
