Jacob A. Smith, 80, died at his home in Jackson township on Wednesday evening, March 8, after an illness of about eight weeks. He was a member of the Blain Lutheran Church.
Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Lottie Shambaugh, Mrs. Helen Gutshall, Mrs. Ethel Hess, William Smith, Levi and John Smith, all of Blain; Mrs. Alice Flickinger, of New Germantown; Mrs. Laura Flickinger, of Loysville R. D.; Mrs. Grace Evans, of Loysville; Mrs. Ida Johnson, of Mechanicsburg R. D. 4; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. John Clouse, of Loysville R. D.; Mrs. Lawrence Robinson and Newton Smith, of Blain; twenty-three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Blain Lutheran Church on Sunday at 2 p. m. his pastor, the Rev. Glenn W. Foulke, officiating, and burial was in the Blain Cemetery.

Also father of twin daughters who were born and died 20 April 1900 (buried in Blain Cemetery; no marker found), and father of Grace Elizabeth Smith Evans, born 23 Jun 1910, died 03 Oct 1994, buried in New Bloomfield Cemetery.

PA Death Certificate: son of Samuel A & Catherine Kuhn; widowed; farmer; died in Jackson Township due to acute myocardial failure due to arteriosclerotic heart disease
