Mrs. Jasper A Ashworth (Lillie Maude Harmon), 77, died at her home at 810 Lawrence Street, Monday following an illness of about three weeks. Services were held at the Assembly of God Church, Tuesday afternoon, and interment was in Forest Lawn cemetery. Rev. George Bullock conducted the service.
Mrs. Ashworth was born in Missouri, June 30, 1870, and was married to Jasper A Ashworth, in Kansas. They resided in Kansas until 1925, then came to Oregon to the Gresham area, where she resided until her death. Mr. Ashworth died about 8 years ago.
Mrs. Ashworth was a devout Christian and found her greatest interst and joy in attending church and in helping others. She was a member and regular attendant at the Assembly of God church here.
Mrs Ashworth has enjoyed good health all her life until 3 weeks ago, when she suffered a heart attack.
Survivors are 2 daughters, Mrs Lora Foust, Gresham, and Mrs Maggie Steenson, Boring; 3 sons, Lester C Ashworth, Portland, Rev. Robert F Ashworth, Seattle, and James L Ashworth, Lansing, Illinois; and 3 sisters and two brothers, Mrs Maggie Axtel, Stillwater, Okla.;Mrs Florence Lownsden, Mehan, Okla; Mrs Bertha Miller, Yakima Washington; and Frank Harmon, Oberlin, Kansas; and Charley Harom, Spanaway, Washington. Thirty-three grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren also survive.
Lillie Maude was the oldest of eight children born to William T & Julia I. (Nicholson) Harmon. She married Jasper P Ashworth on March 1886. They had nine children, seven living to adulthood.
