JACKSON, Thomas Hardy Jr. - Peacefully passed away on Friday, December 10th at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Jackson; children, Deborah Cozzone, Cynthia Mulit, Andree Schouten and T. Hardy Jackson III; his siblings, Joe Bill Jackson, Mary Ellen Guinn, and Margaret Harrison; and grandchildren, Jennifer Cozzone, Christopher Cozzone, Matt Mulit, Ashley Mulit, and Marijke Schouten. Hardy was an international executive with Chevron. His career spanned over 35 years and involved operations in Louisiana, Mississippi, California, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Indonesia. After he retired, he started his own gas and electric company in Texas. He was born in Houston, TX, and grew up in various locations in Texas, Montana and the West. Like his father, he graduated from Rice University with a degree in mechanical engineering and later attended Louisiana State University to complete graduate work in petroleum engineering. During the Second World War, he was responsible for airplane readiness at an airfield in England. After the war, he moved to Laurel, MS, where he met and married Ruth Katherine Ford. The family's first home was in New Orleans. Thereafter, they lived in Natchez, MS, Venezuela and Atherton, CA. In retirement, Ruth and Hardy lived in Dallas, TX, and San Mateo, CA. Hardy was a man of great intelligence, sensitivity, integrity and humor. His hobbies included woodworking, and the family is especially proud of the four poster canopy bed he designed and hand-carved for Ruth. He was a loving husband, father and doting grandfather - cooking elaborate breakfasts for his grandchildren and earning the nickname "Granddaddy Waffles." He will be deeply missed by all. A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 15th, Noon to 2PM at The Stratford, located at 601 Laurel Avenue, San Mateo. A Funeral will be held on Friday December 17 in Laurel, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern California, 2065 West El Camino Real, Suite C, Mountain View, CA 94040.
