Mr. and Mrs. McCombs became members of the McKendree Church soon after their marriage. For a number of years, she taught a Sunday School class of young women.. Later she became superintendent of the nursery. She held a life membership in the Woman's Society of Christian Service.
Mrs. McCombs also assisted with several civic projects in her community. She served for a number of years on the Public Library Board and was active in landscaping the west entrance to the city of Jackson, a project of the Thursday Literary Club, GFWC, of which she was a charter member. She belonged to Chapter D.J. of PEO and was contact chairman for the Thursday Study Club at the time of its organization.
