John Boyers from Jackson County, Iowa enlisted on 11 Oct 1864 to serve for the Union from the Iowa. He enlisted as a Private on 11 October 1864 at the age of 28, as a substitute in Company C, 2nd Iowa Infantry Regiment. He was mustered out on 17 May 1865 at Davenport, Scott Co., IA.
The 2nd Infantry Regiment, Iowa was organized on 27 May 1861.

On March 26, 1916 at 8:30 am in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO John died of chronic bronchitis. He was living at 7119 Herald (Harold) St in Kansas City, MO. On March 28, 1916, he was buried in Elmwood Cemetery .
