From the Republican Register 19 July 1912

Mrs. Ruth R. New, daughter of Benjamin Nelson Graham and Hannah Grace Graham, born in Iowa County, Iowa, August 7, 1873. She died at her home in Hollenberg, Kansas, July 9th, 1912. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church from March 1895 until her death. She served her community well as a school teacher in several of our schools and was a postmistress for a number of years.

She was married to Mr. John C. New, Aug 26, 1911. Her husband and infant daughter, Ruth Maurine, also four brothers and four sisters, survive. Her many friends join these relatives in mourning the loss of such a good friend.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Taft of Fairbury Nebraska.

Ruth died three days after giving birth to her only child. John took the baby to Ruth's brother Lester in Lincoln,Nebr. When he remarried for the third time in May 1913, he took the baby and his new wife and moved to Utah. I do not know at this time if any of his surviving children, three boys, from his first marriage went with them to Utah. His first wife died in 1892 and his youngest and only other daughter died the same year he married Ruth in 1911.
