These injuries were sustained from machine gun fire coming from the vicinity of the town of Barricourt, which temporarily halted the northerly advance of his F Co., 354th Infantry, 89th Division.
Originally buried in French soil, remains returned to the US and re-interred in the Topeka Cemetery
