W.I. Wilburn Rites Held Here Monday
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church at 2:00 p.m. Monday for Wm. Ira Wilburn who died at his home here late Saturday after a serious illness of several weeks. Rev. Ray W. Menard, Methodist pastor, conducted the services and burial was in the Eakly cemetery under direction of the Pitcher Funeral Home.
Born in Boone county, Ark. March 18, 1875, Mr. Wilburn was married to Miss Eliza Martin June 26, 1895 and to them seven children were born, four dying in infancy and a son, Orvel Clyde at about the age of 20.
In 1915 the family moved to Caddo county, south of Eakly where they lived until eight years ago when they moved to Carnegie.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Jeff Rogers, Carnegie; a son, Flem Wilburn of California; two brothers, Charlie Wilburn, Everton, Ark. and C.W. Wilburn, Eakly; two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Step of Everton, Ark. and Mrs. Lee Willis of Alfalfa; five grandchildren, Harold Rogers, Carnegie; Neil Wilburn, Parker, Ariz., Thelma Wilburn, Mrs. Lavada Goodman and Willard Wilburn of Eakly; two great grandchildren and a host of friends. He was converted at the Highland Methodist church in 1932 and remained faithful to his church.
