Angina Pectoris Causes Sudden Death of Jacob S. Diehl, Aged 68
HAD RHEUMATIC PAINS
Red Lion, Oct. 5—Jacob S. Diehl, residing with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Schoaff, 280 North Main street, was found dead In bed, this morning at 7 o'clock, by his daughter. Death was due to angina pectoris, a heart condition. He was aged 68 years and 21 days.
Mr. Diehl, an employe of the Red Lion Canning company, was in good health until a week ago, when he began to complain of rheumatic pains of the shoulders and neck. He was given medical attention by Dr. Horace W. Kohler. It was believed that the trouble was only of a minor nature. This pain, however, it is said, is usually prevalent before pectoris strikes.
Undertaker Purd A. Keidel, of the W. F. Gladfelter company, of Dallastown, notified Dr. L. U. Zech, county coroner, who viewed the body and signed the death certificate. The coroner's opinion is that Mr. Diehl probably died shortly after midnight, today.
Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Mason Lease, Mrs. Elmer Jones and Mrs. Edgar Schoaff, all of this place; one brother, Charles Wesley Diehl, whose whereabouts are unknown; six sisters, Mrs. Henry Sheffer and Mrs. Emma Ness, York; Mrs. Ellsworth Ness, near Winterstown; Miss Susan Diehl, near Felton; Misses Mary and Malinda Diehl, of Nebraska, and twelve grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. After brief services at the house, the funeral cortege will proceed to Zion United Brethren church, on the Felton road, where concluding services will be held and interment made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. M. H. Heiland, pastor of the church, will officiate.
