Robert K. Flagg, age 59, of Morris and formerly Coal City, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at his home.

Born November 8, 1951 in Oak Park, Illinois, Robert is a son of Cora Mear-Flagg of Forest Park and the late Arthur Flagg. He was raised and educated in Forest Park and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Westchester. Robert was inducted into the United States Army on April 28, 1971 and served during the Vietnam Conflict until being honorably discharged on April 25, 1973. Robert was a member of the John Martin Steele VFW Post #6049 in Morris and was a avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He can be remembered as being very patriotic and collecting flag and military memorabilia.

Survivors include his mother: Cora Flagg of Forest Park, Illinois; one daughter: Dana Marcell of Crystal Falls, Michigan; two grandchildren: Taylor and Madison; one sister: Deann (Anthony) Hierz of Coal City; two brothers: Bill (Maureen) Flagg of Lomira, Wisconsin and Richard Flagg of Forest Park, Illinois and nieces and nephews: Victoria Hierz of Coal City and Mikie Flagg, Hannah Flagg and Maggie Flagg all of Lomira, Wisconsin.

Robert was preceded in death by his father: Arthur Flagg; son: Robert Andrew Flagg and one niece Zena Flagg.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 11, 2011 from the hours of 10:00 am until time of funeral service 1:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Reverend Robert Noesen from Assumptipn of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City will officiate and burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Robert's memory to: the John Martin Steele VFE Post #6049, 309 McKinley Street, Morris, Illinois 60450 or the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Honor Squad, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois 60421
