Sarah Bean, daughter of J. W. and Elizabeth Quigley, was born in Union County, Ill., December 26, 1856. While young in years she gave her heart to God and united with the United Brethern church, remaining a faithful member until death. At the age of eighteen years she was united in marriage to T. H. Bean. To this union was born seven children, George, who was taken away in his youth; Ed Bean of Murphysboro; Ollie Crain, recently of Gorham; John Bean, deceased; Bettie Rosenberger, of Gorham; Pearl Opfer, of St. Louis; and Della Cross, recently of Gorham. During the terrible cyclone in which she was mortally wounded, her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Ollie Crain and Mrs. Della Cross, one son-in-law, Reuben Crain, and two grandchildren, Opal Rosenberger and Gerald Cross, lost their lives while others of her immediate family were severely wounded. She departed this life March 22, 1925 at St.

Mary's Hospital in Cairo, Ill., aged sixty-eight years, two months and twenty-seven days. She leaves to mourn her loss, one son, two daughters, one brother and thirteen grandchildren besides other relatives and a host of friends. Gone but not forgotten, we will strive to meet her in the great beyond.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. W. L. Perkins of Bloomington, Ill., state superintendent of the United Brethern church in Elkville at the M.E. church in Elkville, Tuesday afternoon, March 24, 1925. Interment at the Kimmel
cemetery.
