Elmer Harold Kamerzel, 85 of Scottsbluff died Tuesday July 5, 2011 at Regional West Medical Center. Funeral services will be on Friday July 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastors Brad Gustafson and Doug Rupp co-officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday July 7th from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Elmer was born in rural Scotts Bluff County on July 18, 1925 to John and Eva (Meier) Kamerzel. He attended and graduated from the Bayard Public Schools. Elmer and Caroline Schmer were united in marriage on February 22, 1948 in Scottsbluff. They farmed together for over 50 years. After farming he worked for the Elks Lodge and most recently at the Presbyterian Church until January 2011. Elmer and Caroline played Santa and Mrs. Claus as well.

He was a past member of the Scotts Bluff County Planning Commission and a past Highland School Board member.

Elmer is survived by his wife Caroline and son-in-law Rick Patterson both of Scottsbluff. Brother Willard (Anna Mae) Kamerzel of Gering as well as four nephews.
